Overview

DX-D6 is an electronic guard locking interlock switch for machine safety fences and access doors. Unlike a simple door-position sensor, it physically locks the guard door closed — via either a mechanical-lock/solenoid-release mechanism or a solenoid-lock/mechanical-release mechanism — so an operator cannot open the door while the machine is still in a hazardous state, and the machine's safety controller can prevent restart until the door is confirmed locked.

It is intended for machine builders and system integrators designing perimeter or point-of-operation guarding on CNC machine tools, robot work cells, and automated production lines where doors must stay locked during coast-down, residual motion, or other lingering hazards after the stop command. The switch combines guard locking with redundant dual-channel monitoring — 2000 N holding force and dual NPN/PNP outputs — in a compact 30×30 mm all-metal body, offered across 32 model variants with universal- or uniquely-coded RFID actuator options.

When NOT to specify the DX-D6 — and what to use instead

The application only needs to detect door open/closed status, with no requirement to physically hold the guard shut.

Why not: DX-D6's core function -- and added cost -- is guard locking; a monitoring-only switch is a simpler fit when no coast-down or stored-energy hazard exists after the stop command.

Use instead: DX-C1, DX-D2/DX-D3, or DX-R1 position-monitoring switches

Risk assessment calculates that the guard door may be forced with more than the rated 2000 N holding force.

Why not: 2000 N is DX-D6's rated holding force; forces above this are outside the device's published capability.

Use instead: No higher-holding-force guard-locking switch is currently cataloged; consult the factory on supplementary mechanical restraint before relying on DX-D6 alone

The panel is wired for conventional relay-based safety circuits and does not need RFID-coded actuators or NPN/PNP transistor outputs.

Why not: DX-D6 requires a DX-K9S/DX-K9D RFID actuator and outputs dual NPN or PNP signals rather than plain NC/NO contacts.

Use instead: DX-W2, DX-W3, or DX-W5 mechanical-contact guard-locking switches

The frame section the switch mounts to is larger than 30 mm and no adapter is available.

Why not: DX-D6's 30x30 mm all-metal body is sized for direct mounting on aluminum extrusion frames up to 30 mm.
