Safety Edges
Pressure-sensitive safety edge profiles for moving machinery, doors and gates.
JH-PSE and DDB Pressure-Sensitive Safety Edges
A pressure-sensitive edge detects contact along a moving or closing boundary. Compression changes the sensing contact; a compatible controller and the machine stop circuit then respond. Choose JH-PSE for its main and extension profile range, or DDB for industrial custom and adhesive-backed sections.
Compare 2 Safety Edges Series
Compare the Two Ranges
| Range | Profile choices | Electrical configuration |
|---|---|---|
| JH-PSE safety edges | 7 main profiles plus 37 extension profiles; matched mounting bases | Main R/K and extension contact/resistor arrangements; select by complete order code |
| DDB industrial custom safety edges | 5 standard sections plus 6 adhesive-backed section drawings; 200-3000 mm custom length | 2K / 4K / 2R cable arrangements; custom output channels and terminals specified for the order |
For compact, curved and shaped JH-PSE installations, see the 37 extension profile drawings and actuation table. Main-profile response, temperature and force values do not apply automatically to every extension or DDB section.
How Contact Detection Works

Select for the Moving Boundary
- Powered doors and gates: check the closing edge, corners and inactive ends.
- AGV bumpers: match section, contact direction, mounting and permitted compression to the vehicle.
- Machine tables and covers: confirm active coverage and cable routing throughout the travel.
Allow for motion after the edge actuates. Match the controller, termination and complete stop circuit; verify stopping travel on the machine. For floor-area occupancy, compare safety mats. For non-contact protection across an opening, review safety light curtains.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between JH-PSE and DDB?
JH-PSE combines seven main profiles and 37 extension profiles with group-specific actuation and cable data. DDB is a separate industrial custom range with standard and adhesive-backed sections and order-specific electrical configurations.
Is a four-core edge the same as two independent safety outputs?
No. Cable-core count describes the connection arrangement, not the number or safety function of independent output channels. Specify the exact controller and output circuit.
Can a safety edge detect someone before contact?
No. It responds to contact and compression. Use a suitable non-contact protective device where detection before contact is required.
