Overview

DDB is an industrial custom range for contact detection on powered doors, AGV bumpers and moving machine boundaries. Choose standard-base DDB or adhesive-mounted DDBT to suit the mounting surface and contour.

The range is positioned for custom dual-output applications. Specify the actual output type, channel arrangement and terminal functions for the ordered assembly. Codes 2K, 4K and 2R describe cable cores and termination, not two independent safety outputs.

DDB Standard Profiles

Select the section width, height and required length together. The square in the drawing code represents the length field.

DDBT Adhesive Profiles

Select by the mounting face and section drawing. Two different 25×15 mm constructions share the same model label and are shown separately.

Ordering Configuration

Example: DDB-16x27-200-2KR. Read the fields separately: range, section, length, electrical configuration and shape.

Length200-3000 mm; custom options
2K2-core, no end resistor
4K4-core, no end resistor
2R2-core, with end resistor
Final R/SStandard shape / special shape

Match termination, cable pairing, output definition and monitoring to the controller's wiring diagram. Cable-core codes do not establish output polarity, redundancy or a safety rating.

Straight, Corner and Curved Shapes

Contour and force direction are part of the configuration. Account for inactive ends, corners and joints.

Moving-Edge Applications

Applications include powered-door edges, AGV contact bumpers, movable covers and industrial machine boundaries. Select the section and active coverage for the actual contact direction and stopping travel.

Control and Installation

Pressure-sensitive edge principle: contact changes an input state, the matched controller evaluates it and final elements stop motion.

Functional relationship, not terminal wiring. Match and validate the edge, controller and complete stop function.
  • Use a flat, clean mounting face and the approved base or adhesive fixing method.
  • Avoid preload, twisting and cable tension; protect exits and moving cables.
  • Check coverage, held contact, faults and complete stopping travel.
  • Releasing the edge or resetting must not start hazardous motion; use a separate deliberate Start command.

DDBT adhesive labels

DDBT-25x15DDBT-12x12DDBT-15x8DDBT-20x15DDBT-7x4
Six drawings use five labels: DDBT-25x15 has two constructions. Select by drawing; DDBT-12x12 is drawn as 15×12 mm.

How to Select

  1. Select standard-base DDB or adhesive DDBT.
  2. Choose the drawing, length, contour and force direction.
  3. Specify custom outputs, cable arrangement and matched termination.
  4. Check controller compatibility and actual stopping travel.

When NOT to specify the DDB — and what to use instead

Non-contact detection is required

Why not: DDB detects contact pressure, not approach at a distance.

Use instead: Select a suitable light curtain or scanner.

No validated stopping allowance is available

Why not: A contact signal alone does not guarantee a safe stop before harmful compression.

Use instead: Revise and validate the complete guarding and stopping design.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does 4K mean two independent safety outputs?
No. 4K identifies a four-core no-resistor configuration. Specify the actual custom output type, channels and terminal functions for the ordered assembly.
Are there five or six DDBT options?
There are six drawings with five model labels. DDBT-25x15 has arch-cavity and circular-core constructions. Identify the selected construction by its drawing.
Can JH-PSE response and force figures be used for DDB?
No. Obtain response, actuation force, travel and environmental limits for the selected DDB assembly rather than transferring another range's figures.
Can a sealed edge be shortened on site?
Do not cut open or modify a sealed edge. Specify length and processed ends before manufacture and follow the supplied installation instructions.
