Overview

DX-W5 is a solenoid-locking guard interlock switch designed for movable machine guards (hinged or sliding safety doors, fence gates, enclosure panels) on machine tools and automated production equipment. When the guard is closed, the switch verifies the closed position and the solenoid engages the mechanical lock so the door cannot be opened while hazardous motion inside continues; it releases when the corresponding control signal (or, on GC versions, a mechanical/manual action) removes the lock. It is intended for machine builders, panel integrators and end users who need a compact, multi-contact interlock at fence/door points feeding a safety relay or safety PLC input.

How to Select

  1. Choose contact configuration by the number of independent NC safety channels and NO status-indication points needed: 2CO/2CO, 3C/2CO, 2CO/3C or 3C/3C, where C is a normally-closed contact, O is a normally-open contact, and the number is the count of that contact type in the block.
  2. Choose locking direction by the safety circuit's required fail logic: GD is solenoid-locked and mechanically released, GC is mechanically-locked and solenoid-released; both directions are available for every contact configuration, so contact count does not have to be traded off against locking logic.

Why not: DX-W5 provides the platform's highest contact count -- 6 gold-plated blocks across 4 configurations.

Use instead: DX-W3 (2 contact blocks) or DX-W2 (4 contact blocks, more configuration flexibility)
