Overview
The DQT is the long-distance, large-beam-count member of the DAIDISIKE through-beam (opposed-mode) safety light curtain family — the same optical platform as the long-range DQA, extended to far more beam axes. A separate transmitter and receiver project a tall plane of modulated infrared beams across a wide or high opening, stopping the machine when any beam is broken. It is designed to the Type 4 architecture of IEC 61496-1 and -3 and to Category 4 of ISO 13849-1 (the catalog also cites EN 61496-3:2019 Type 4 and EN 13849-1:2015).
Where the DQA tops out at 32 beam axes, the DQT scales to 72, giving protected heights up to about 2840 mm at the coarser pitches (for example DQT72/40-2840 = 72 beams at 40 mm pitch, 2840 mm protected height). It offers four beam pitches — 10, 20, 40 and 80 mm — and, like the DQA, a sensing distance selectable by model code from 0.3-3 m up to 0.3-40 m, so one transmitter/receiver pair can guard a large danger zone.
Output is NPN or PNP, normally open or normally closed, or a relay output, selected by model code, wired via the transmitter's and receiver's aviation connectors with a single- or dual-output-signal option. The 51 x 35 mm aluminium housing is rated IP65, self-checks continuously, and rejects ambient light to 10,000 lux at an incidence angle of 5 degrees or more.
Features & Benefits
Up to 72 Beams in a Single Curtain
Beam counts reach 70 beams at 10 mm pitch (DQT70/10-690), 72 beams at 20 mm pitch (DQT72/20-1420), and 72 beams at 40 mm pitch (DQT72/40-2840). One curtain covers tall, dense protective fields that would otherwise require stacking multiple standard-range curtains.
Long-range Through-beam Detection for Wide-span Openings
DQT extends beyond DQA's 32-beam limit and is described in the catalog series overview as suitable for through-beam distances up to 40 m per the model-code table (the catalog cover mentions 50 m; confirm with us), letting one curtain span wide machine openings or long perimeter boundaries.
Four Beam-pitch Options Matched to Detection Requirement
10/20/40/80 mm beam pitch lets the curtain be matched to finger-, hand-, arm/body-level detection needs, with protective height scaling accordingly - up to 690 mm at 10 mm pitch, 1420 mm at 20 mm pitch, 2840 mm at 40 mm pitch, and 2480 mm at 80 mm pitch.
Single or Dual Signal Output, 5-core or 7-core Wiring
Transistor output with a choice of single-output or dual-output signal configuration, wired via 5-core or 7-core cable, for compatibility with different control-circuit layouts.
Clear Model-number Logic for Straightforward Specification
Model numbers follow a fixed pattern - DQT + beam count + "/" + beam pitch + "-" + protective height (e.g., DQT12/10-110) - so the beam count, pitch, and protective height of any given unit can be read directly from its part number.
Purpose-built Extension Within a Structured Product Family
DQT sits in a defined family position: choose DQA for beam counts up to 32; step up to DQT when more than 32 beams are needed. This gives a clear, catalog-defined upgrade path rather than an ad hoc large-beam-count variant.

How to read the DQT model code
How the DQT differs from the DQA
How to Select
- Decide the beam pitch needed: 10 mm for finger-level detection, 20 mm for hand-level detection, 40 mm for arm/body-level detection, or 80 mm for the coarsest, tallest-height option.
- Decide the required protective height, then read it off the model list for the chosen pitch: 10 mm pitch runs DQT12/10-110 through DQT70/10-690, 20 mm pitch runs DQT06/20-100 through DQT72/20-1420, 40 mm pitch runs DQT04/40-120 through DQT72/40-2840, and 80 mm pitch runs DQT04/80-240 through DQT32/80-2480.
- Read the model number directly: DQT + beam count + "/" + beam pitch + "-" + protective height - for example DQT70/10-690 means 70 beams, 10 mm pitch, 690 mm protective height.
- Choose the output configuration: transistor output with single or dual signal output, per your control-circuit requirement.
- Choose the wiring: 5-core or 7-core cable, matched to your controller/interface requirement.
- For beam counts up to 32 beams at long through-beam range choose DQA; for more than 32 beams choose DQT; DQT4 is a separate catalog series with its own beam-pitch and wiring pattern and should not be confused with DQT.

When NOT to specify the DQT — and what to use instead
You need a finer beam pitch such as 14, 25 or 30 mm
Why not: The DQT offers only four pitches — 10, 20, 40 and 80 mm. The intermediate 14, 25 and 30 mm pitches are not on the DQT.
Use instead: The DQA long-range curtain, which offers eight pitches (10/14/20/25/30/40/80/200 mm) on the same platform, up to 32 beams.
The protected field needs 32 beams or fewer
Why not: The DQT is built for large beam counts (up to 72). For a modest field its extra length and cost are not needed.
Use instead: The DQA (up to 32 beams, more pitch choices) for a shorter field, or the standard-range DQC for a short span.
You need true 14 mm finger detection capability
Why not: The finest DQT pitch is 10 mm, giving a detection accuracy — minimum detectable object — of 18 mm (pitch + 8 mm), a hand-level rather than a strict 14 mm finger figure.
Use instead: Confirm the required detection capability against your ISO 13855 risk assessment; the DQT4 series or a finer-resolution curtain if 14 mm finger detection is mandatory.
Washdown, high-pressure hosing or wet environments
Why not: The DQT housing is rated IP65 — dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets, but not high-pressure jetting or immersion.
Use instead: The DQR / DQRF waterproof safety light curtain series for wet or washdown areas.
Ambient temperature outside -10 to +40 degrees C, or condensing conditions
Why not: The DQT operating range is -10 to +40 degrees C, non-condensing. Outside that band, or where the optical faces can condense or ice, detection is not guaranteed.
Use instead: A heated or sheltered enclosure that holds the curtain within spec, or confirm a wide-temperature option with us.
The machine control needs a volt-free relay output but an NPN/PNP variant was ordered
Why not: Output type is fixed by the model code letter (A/B/C/D = NPN/PNP solid-state, J = relay) and cannot be changed in the field.
Use instead: Order the J (relay-output) variant, or the matching A/B/C/D code for the sinking/sourcing and NO/NC logic your controller expects.
Specifications we do not publish yet

- PFHd, MTTFd and DCavg figures needed to integrate the DQT into a full ISO 13849-1 machine calculation. The catalog states Category 4 but does not publish these numbers.
- Safety-distance calculation guidance (ISO 13855) and the exact response time per beam count — the catalog gives only the <= 15 ms maximum, and response time typically rises with beam count.
- Machine-safety (ESPE) certification: the TÜV SÜD certificate on file (E8A 104143 0001) covers EMC (Directive 2014/30/EU) only. An IEC 61496 EU-Type Examination certificate from a notified body — the document that would substantiate a Type 4 / Category 4 safety-function claim — and any UL listing are not yet on hand. Certification documents available on request.
- The difference between the DQCA and DQCA2 controllers, and which configurations require an external controller.
- Muting and fixed / floating blanking function availability and configuration.
- Maximum protected height / longest housing available, and any beam-count limit beyond 72.
- Cable length options and the aviation-connector pinout.
