Overview
DQZ is DAIDISIKE's ultra-thin, front-emitting through-beam safety light curtain: the optical window sits on the narrow 17.2 mm face of a 17.2 x 30 mm aluminium-alloy housing, rather than the wider 30 mm face used by standard-body curtains. This lets it be mounted flush in mold-area gaps, slide-table edges, and door-frame recesses where the available depth is too limited for a standard 30-35 mm-thick light curtain, without protruding into the machine's working envelope. Per the catalog, it is designed to the safety level of IEC 61496-1/-2, and separately cited against EN 61496-3:2019 Type 4 and EN 13849-1:2015 Category 4 (PLd); the catalog also references GB/T19436.1, GB4584-2007 and a GB/T19001-2016 idt ISO 9001:2015 quality-management-system certification. Certification documents are available on request.
The series covers seven beam pitches (10, 14, 20, 25, 30, 40 and 80 mm) within the same ultra-thin housing -- grouped by the catalog into finger (10/14 mm), palm (20/25 mm) and arm-or-body (30/40/80 mm) protection -- giving protective heights from 50 mm up to 2480 mm, so the same slim-body line can guard both small openings and full-height openings. The catalog notes that the 80 mm pitch and other special specifications are made to order rather than stock configurations.
Output is NPN/PNP transistor type (sink current 500 mA, residual voltage under 1.5 V), wired through a circular aviation connector via a dedicated cable (transmitter 4-core, receiver 5-core in the parameter table; the wiring-diagram section itself is titled "dual 5-core"). Sensing distance is 0.3-3 m for every model listed in the catalog's spec-overview table; the model-code breakdown also defines a shorter 0.3-1 m code. Response time is <=15 ms, ambient light immunity is 10,000 lux at an incidence angle of 5 degrees or more, the housing is rated IP65, and the DQBZ-01 fixing-screw mounting set ships as standard equipment.
Features & Benefits
17.2 mm Front-emitting Profile Fits Where Standard Units Cannot
The housing cross-section is 17.2 x 30 mm with the beam-emitting window on the 17.2 mm face, so the curtain installs flush into narrow slots, mold-area gaps, and door-frame recesses without protruding into the machine's working envelope.
Full Pitch Range Despite the Slim Housing
Seven pitch options (10, 14, 20, 25, 30, 40 and 80 mm) are all available in the same ultra-thin housing, covering finger-level detection through to hand/arm and body-level detection in one product family.
Protective Heights Up to 2480 mm
Model coverage runs from short 4-axis units up to 32-axis units at 80 mm pitch (2480 mm protective height), so the same slim-body series can guard both small openings and full-height openings.
NPN/PNP Selectable Transistor Output, Dual 5-core Wiring
Output signal type can be selected between NPN and PNP, allowing compatibility with both NPN-common and PNP-common PLC/controller input conventions; wiring uses dual 5-core cable.
Dedicated DQBZ-01 Mounting Bracket Included as Standard
Because the ultra-thin housing differs from standard-body light curtains, a matched low-profile mounting bracket (DQBZ-01) is supplied as standard equipment rather than as an optional accessory.
Systematic Model Naming for Straightforward Part Identification
Model codes follow a fixed pattern: DQZ + number of beam axes + '/' + pitch (mm) + '-' + protective height (mm), making it easy to cross-check a spec sheet against the correct part number.

How to read the DQZ model code
How to Select
- Choose 10 mm pitch for finger-level protection needs; 14/20/25 mm for hand-level; 30/40 mm for hand/arm-level; 80 mm for larger body/arm-level detection where finer resolution is not required.
- Match the required guarded opening height to the height value in the model code, for example DQZ12/20-240 denotes 240 mm protective height at 20 mm pitch.
- Select NPN output for controllers/PLCs expecting NPN (sinking) input signals, or PNP for controllers expecting PNP (sourcing) input signals, confirming against the receiving PLC's input module specification before ordering.
- Confirm the available mounting-slot depth is compatible with the 17.2 x 30 mm housing cross-section before specifying DQZ over a standard-body light curtain.
- DQBZ-01 mounting brackets are included as standard, so no separate bracket purchase is required for a standard installation.

When NOT to specify the DQZ — and what to use instead
Mounting depth is not constrained -- a standard-body curtain fits the opening
Why not: DQZ's whole point is the 17.2 mm ultra-thin front-emitting profile for slots too narrow for standard units; where depth is not a constraint, the ultra-thin housing adds cost and complexity without a corresponding benefit.
Use instead: The DQC general-purpose safety light curtain for openings where mounting depth is not restricted.
The beams need to exit from the side of the housing, not the narrow front face
Why not: DQZ is front-emitting -- the optical window is on the 17.2 mm face of a 17.2 x 30 mm housing. Where the front face has no exit clearance but the side of the housing does, a front-emitting curtain cannot be oriented to suit the gap.
Use instead: The DQB ultra-thin side-emitting safety light curtain (15 x 30 mm housing, beams exit the side face).
True sub-15 mm finger-detection accuracy is required by the risk assessment
Why not: The finest DQZ pitch is 10 mm, but its detection accuracy (minimum detectable object) is 18 mm (pitch + 8 mm) per the catalog's parameter table -- a hand-level rather than a strict fingertip figure, even though the catalog labels the 10/14 mm pitches as finger protection.
Use instead: Confirm the required detection capability against an ISO 13855 risk assessment before specifying; ask us for a finer-resolution option if true sub-15 mm finger detection is mandatory.
The transmitter-to-receiver span needs a sensing distance materially beyond 0.3-3 m
Why not: Every model in the DQZ catalog's spec-overview table lists 0.3-3 m as its sensing distance (with a shorter 0.3-1 m code also defined); the catalog does not publish a longer stock DQZ configuration and directs long-range requests to customer service.
Use instead: The DQA long-distance safety light curtain (sensing distance selectable up to 0.3-40 m) for spans beyond DQZ's catalogued range.
Washdown, high-pressure hosing, or ambient temperature outside -10 to +40 degrees C
Why not: The DQZ housing is rated IP65 -- dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets, but not against high-pressure jetting or immersion -- and its operating range is -10 to +40 degrees C, non-condensing.
Use instead: The DQR waterproof safety light curtain series for wet or washdown areas, or a heated/sheltered enclosure (or confirm a wide-temperature option with us) for out-of-range ambient temperatures.
More than 32 beam axes, or a protected height beyond 2480 mm, are needed
Why not: DQZ's catalogued model list stops at 32 beam axes and a 2480 mm protected height (DQZ32/80-2480 at the coarsest 80 mm pitch).
Use instead: The DQT series for taller openings requiring more beam axes at a compact pitch, on the same general safety-light-curtain platform.
Specifications we do not publish yet
We only publish a figure once we are confident it is true. The items below are still being validated through further testing and real-world customer feedback, so for now we would rather leave them open than guess. If one of them matters to your design, ask us for the latest validated status.
- Detection accuracy (minimum detectable object) for the 80 mm pitch is not listed in the catalog's technical-parameter table (only the 10-40 mm pitches are tabulated); the pitch+8 mm pattern would suggest 88 mm, but this exact figure is not stated by the factory for 80 mm.
- The catalog notes that the 80 mm pitch and other special specifications are made to order -- lead time, minimum order quantity, and stock availability for 80 mm-pitch DQZ units need confirming.
- PFHd, MTTFd and DCavg figures needed to integrate DQZ into a full ISO 13849-1 machine-level calculation. The catalog states a Category 4 (PLd) design basis but does not publish these numbers.
- TUV and UL certificate numbers and their exact scope (which models/configurations they cover). Certification documents are available on request.
- Exact cable core count and pinout (transmitter 4-core / receiver 5-core vs dual 5-core appear in different catalog sections) — ask us for the confirmed wiring diagram before installation
- Cable length options beyond what is shown in the wiring diagrams.
- Safety-distance calculation guidance (ISO 13855) and any response-time variation by beam count -- the catalog gives only the <= 15 ms maximum.
- Muting or fixed/floating blanking function availability and configuration -- not mentioned on the DQZ catalog pages.
