Overview

DQO is DAIDISIKE's catalog-designated “zero blind-zone” (无盲区) safety light curtain: a transistor-output (NPN/PNP selectable) transmitter/receiver pair built for machine builders needing finger- and hand-level protection on compact openings. Per the catalog's own dimension drawing, the first and last active beam positions sit only 6.75mm (dimensions P and J) from the physical ends of the housing — the same 6.75mm offset applies across all three pitch options (10/20/30mm). The catalog pairs this with a segment/branch indicator LED (分路指示灯) on the receiver that shows the on/off status of each individual beam, in addition to the standard clear/blocked output indicator. DQO is designed to the Type 4 architecture of IEC 61496-1/2 (the catalog also cites EN 61496-3:2019 Type 4) and to Category 4 (PLd) of EN ISO 13849-1:2015, and states compliance with GB/T19436.1, GB4584-2007 and the GB/T19001-2016 idt ISO 9001:2015 quality-management standard; certification documents are available on request.

The series is offered in 10mm, 20mm and 30mm beam pitch, with a detection accuracy (minimum detectable object) of 18mm, 28mm and 38mm respectively (pitch + 8mm). Beam count runs from 12 to 70 axes at 10mm pitch, 6 to 72 at 20mm pitch, and 4 to 72 at 30mm pitch, giving protected heights from 90mm up to 2130mm. Sensing distance is 300-3000mm (0.3-3m) as standard, with 300-6000mm (0.3-6m) available as an option — the catalog notes that distances beyond default require confirming with the factory. Response time is <=15ms and the housing is rated IP65. The 30x28mm cross-section transmitter/receiver connects via dual 7-pin circular aviation connectors and outputs 2x NPN/PNP (dual OSSD channel), with NC/NO logic and polarity selected by model code (A = NPN NC, B = PNP NC, C = NPN NO, D = PNP NO).

Features & Benefits

Zero blind zone at both ends

Per the catalog's dimension drawing, the first and last beams sit only 6.75mm (dimensions P and J) from the physical ends of the housing — the same offset across all three pitch options — so the protective field covers almost the full physical length of the curtain, with only a small fixed gap at the mounting ends rather than the larger set-back typical of a standard curtain.

Most effective on short protective heights

Because the 6.75mm end offset is fixed regardless of curtain length, it takes up a proportionally larger share of a short curtain's total protected height, so DQO's end-flush beam layout gives the greatest practical benefit on shorter curtains, such as small press or fixture guarding, versus tall curtains where the same 6.75mm offset is comparatively negligible.

Compact 30×28mm housing cross-section

Fits mounting spaces on small presses and assembly fixtures where larger safety light curtain housings won't fit.

10/20/30mm pitch options, up to 72 beams

Three resolution grades cover fine finger-detection (10mm pitch) through hand-detection (20/30mm pitch), with beam counts reaching 72 axes (DQO72/20-1420, DQO72/30-2130). Tall protective fields are achievable without reintroducing end dead zones.

Transistor output, NPN/PNP selectable

Configurable output signal type for compatibility with different PLC input circuits, wired via dual 7-pin connectors.

Core performance for standard industrial duty

0.3–3m standard sensing range (0.3–6m optional), response time ≤15ms, and IP65 ingress protection suit standard industrial safety-guarding environments.

Applications

Small precision press / hydraulic punch guardingNarrow machine openings where a standard curtain's end dead zone would sit close to the danger point; DQO's 6.75mm end-to-first-beam offset closes most of that gap.
Assembly fixture / clamping station finger protectionShort curtain lengths around fixture openings benefit most from end-flush sensing.
Machine openings requiring end-flush mounting against the frameWhen the curtain housing must sit directly against a frame edge, DQO's minimal 6.75mm end offset avoids leaving a large undetected corridor at that edge, unlike a standard curtain's larger end set-back.
Standardized safety guarding across multiple small machinesConsistent 30×28mm compact housing and NPN/PNP output options simplify specifying one curtain family across a fleet of similar small machines.
Retrofit safety upgrade on compact equipment with limited mounting clearanceCompact cross-section fits where bulkier light curtain housings cannot be retrofitted.

How to read the DQO model code

DQO [beams] / [pitch] - [protected height] [output groups] [signal] [sensing distance] [special mark]
DQO = series. [beams] = beam-axis count (range depends on pitch: 12-70 at 10mm, 6-72 at 20mm, 4-72 at 30mm). [pitch] = 10/20/30mm (光轴间距). [protected height] in mm = pitch x (beams - 1). [output groups] = blank for one output group, "2" for two groups. [signal] = A (NPN NC), B (PNP NC), C (NPN NO), D (PNP NO). [sensing distance] = A (0.3-3m), C (0.3-6m). [special mark] = blank unless a custom variant. Example from the catalog's own spec table: DQO08/30-210 = 8 beams, 30mm pitch, 210mm protected height ((8-1)x30). Note: the catalog's worked model-code diagram illustrates the code positions using "DQO08/40-280", but 40mm does not appear among DQO's documented pitch options (10/20/30mm only) — likely a boilerplate figure reused from a related series; treat 10/20/30mm as the authoritative pitch set and 40mm as unconfirmed for DQO.

How to Select

  1. Model code structure: DQO + beam count / pitch - protective height (first and last beams flush with the housing ends).
  2. Choose pitch by detection resolution: 10mm pitch for finger-level detection on the smallest/highest-risk openings; 20mm or 30mm pitch for hand-level detection where finer resolution is not required.
  3. Match protective height to the guarded opening: 10mm pitch range DQO12/10-110 to DQO70/10-690; 20mm pitch range DQO06/20-100 to DQO72/20-1420; 30mm pitch range DQO04/30-90 to DQO72/30-2130.
  4. Choose sensing distance: 0.3–3m standard, or 0.3–6m optional for wider machine footprints.
  5. Choose output signal type: transistor output, select NPN or PNP to match the machine's PLC input circuit type.
  6. Choose mounting accessory: DQCA-01/02/03/05 mounting brackets available; DQCA-05 is the standard side-mount bracket.

When NOT to specify the DQO — and what to use instead

Guarding a tall or wide opening rather than a compact one

Why not: DQO's catalog-highlighted advantage — beam positions only 6.75mm from the housing ends — is most valuable on short curtains, where a standard end offset is a larger fraction of the total protected height. On a tall curtain that same 6.75mm is a negligible fraction of the total length, so the extra segment-indicator wiring is not worth paying for.

Use instead: The standard DQC general safety light curtain series for openings where the end offset is already a small fraction of the total protected height.

You need a beam pitch other than 10, 20 or 30 mm (e.g. true 14 mm finger detection or 40/80 mm coarse detection)

Why not: DQO's documented pitch options are limited to 10/20/30mm. The catalog's own resolution-by-task graphic on these pages lists 14/25/40/80mm pitch groupings, but those do not appear anywhere in DQO's parameter table or model-code breakdown, so they should not be assumed available on DQO.

Use instead: The DQC or DQA series, which the catalog documents across a full 10/14/20/25/30/40/80/200mm pitch lineup.

Sensing (transmitter-to-receiver) distance beyond 6 m

Why not: DQO's catalog default is 300-3000mm (0.3-3m), with 300-6000mm (0.3-6m) as the only listed optional extension; the catalog states any distance beyond default needs confirming with customer service, and no longer-range code is defined in DQO's own model breakdown.

Use instead: The DQA long-distance safety light curtain series, selectable up to 0.3-40m by model code.

Washdown, high-pressure hosing, or outdoor rain exposure

Why not: DQO's housing is rated IP65 — dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets, but not against high-pressure jetting or immersion.

Use instead: The DQR waterproof safety light curtain series for wet or washdown areas.

Protected height or beam count beyond DQO's documented maximum (72 beams / 2130 mm at 30 mm pitch)

Why not: DQO's model list in the catalog stops at 72 beam axes; no larger configuration is documented for this series.

Use instead: The DQT series, the catalog's higher-capacity long-curtain platform; confirm DQT's exact beam/height ceiling with us, as it was not verified on the DQO pages.

The machine control needs a genuine volt-free relay output

Why not: DQO's own model-code breakdown only defines NPN/PNP transistor signal codes (A/B/C/D, all NC/NO transistor variants). Although the parameter table lists an AC110-220V "relay-output version" supply option, no relay/volt-free output code is defined anywhere in DQO's documented model list, so relay output should not be assumed orderable without confirming.

Use instead: Confirm relay-output availability directly with the factory, or specify the DQA series, which documents an explicit relay-output (J) code.

Specifications we do not publish yet

We only publish a figure once we are confident it is true. The items below are still being validated through further testing and real-world customer feedback, so for now we would rather leave them open than guess. If one of them matters to your design, ask us for the latest validated status.

  • TÜV and UL certificate numbers and their exact scope (which DQO configurations they cover) are not given in the catalog. Certification documents are available on request.
  • PFHd, MTTFd and DCavg figures needed to integrate DQO into a full ISO 13849-1 machine calculation — the catalog states Category 4 (PLd) but does not publish these figures.
  • Whether a genuine relay (volt-free) output variant of DQO exists: the parameter table lists an AC110-220V "relay-output version" supply option, but DQO's own model-code breakdown defines only NPN/PNP transistor signal codes (A/B/C/D), with no relay/J code.
  • The exact relationship between total housing length L and protected height H — the published dimension formula is ambiguous; ask us for a dimensioned drawing before designing the mounting
  • Pitch options beyond the tabulated 10/20/30 mm: a resolution-by-task graphic also shows 14/25/40/80 mm groupings; whether these are orderable for DQO needs confirming
  • The relationship between the "DQCA / DQCA2" controller listed in the parameter table and the identically-prefixed DQCA-01/02/03/05 mounting-bracket accessories — whether DQO requires a separate external controller box, and in which configurations — is not explained in these pages.
  • Cable length options for the dual 7-pin aviation connectors, and the full pinout beyond the four signal-output wiring diagrams shown (VDC/OSSD1/OSSD2/CP/CE/0V).
  • Muting and fixed/floating blanking function availability and configuration for DQO are not mentioned on these catalog pages.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes DQO different from a standard safety light curtain?
On a standard light curtain, the first and last sensing beams are set back from the housing ends by a larger margin. Per DQO's catalog dimension drawing, the first and last beams sit only 6.75mm (dimensions P and J) from the housing ends — the same offset for all three pitch options — so the dead zone at each end of the curtain is much smaller than on a standard design. The catalog also pairs this with a per-beam segment indicator LED on the receiver for diagnostics.
When does the zero-blind-zone design matter most?
It matters most on shorter protective heights, where DQO's fixed 6.75mm end offset is a larger share of the total guarded length — for example, on small press or fixture guarding applications. On a tall curtain the same 6.75mm offset is a comparatively negligible fraction of the total length.
What resolution (beam pitch) options does DQO offer?
10mm, 20mm, and 30mm pitch, letting you choose between fine finger-level detection and coarser hand-level detection depending on the application's risk assessment.
What is the maximum number of beams / tallest protective height available?
Up to 72 beams, reaching protective heights of 1420mm (20mm pitch, DQO72/20-1420) and 2130mm (30mm pitch, DQO72/30-2130).
What output signal types does DQO support?
Transistor output with NPN or PNP signal selectable, wired via dual 7-pin connectors.
What is the sensing distance range?
0.3–3m as standard, with a 0.3–6m option available.
What is the response time?
≤15ms.
What is the housing cross-section size?
30×28mm.
What mounting accessories are available for DQO?
DQCA-01, DQCA-02, DQCA-03, and DQCA-05 brackets; DQCA-05 is the standard side-mount bracket.
