Overview

The QF-35 is a diffuse-reflective (self-contained emitter-receiver) M8-thread photoelectric sensor: it emits a 940 nm infrared beam and switches its output when light reflected off the target object returns to the built-in receiver, so no separate reflector or receiver unit is needed. It is aimed at machine builders and panel integrators who need a compact, stainless-steel, IP66-rated sensor for close-range presence or part detection on tight fixtures, small conveyors, or feed mechanisms — especially where splash, coolant mist, or wash-down water is present.

The series covers two output types — QF-35N1 (NPN, Normally Open, voltage output) and QF-35P1 (PNP, Normally Open) — both sharing a fixed 35 mm rated sensing distance (calibrated against a 30×30 mm white paper target), IP66 protection per IEC 60529, a 3 ms or faster operate/reset response, and an operating temperature range of −25°C to +55°C.

Features & Benefits

IP66-rated for water-jet and wash-down exposure

Withstands powerful water jets per IEC 60529 (IP66), one class above the IP65 rating of our other micro photoelectric sensors (H03-H08/R12 series). Suited to mounting near cutting-fluid splash or hose-down cleaning stations.

Stainless-steel M8 barrel for corrosion-resistant, compact mounting

Single-hole M8×1.0 threaded barrel in stainless steel, secured with a locknut, fits into tight fixture holes and resists corrosion in wet or oily environments.

Fast 3 ms (or less) response for quick part counting

Both operate and reset response times are 3 ms or less — faster than the 5 ms response of our micro H-series sensors — suited to higher-cycle-rate small-parts detection.

940 nm infrared emitter for ambient-light immunity

Uses an invisible 940 nm infrared LED, rated to keep operating correctly under incandescent illumination up to 3,000 lx and sunlight up to 10,000 lx, so factory lighting and window daylight do not falsely trigger it.

Can detect transparent objects

Product imagery labels the diffuse-reflective sensing mode as capable of detecting transparent objects, useful for clear film, glass, or plastic parts that many photoelectric sensors struggle with.

Transparent, verifiable rated sensing distance

The 35 mm rated sensing distance is specified against a defined 30×30 mm white paper standard target, with deviation within 20% of the rated distance. Actual working distance for darker or less reflective targets will be shorter and should be verified for the specific target material.

Built-in reverse-polarity and short-circuit protection

The output circuit includes reverse power-connection protection, output short-circuit protection, and mutual-interference protection, reducing the risk of sensor damage from wiring mistakes during installation.

NPN and PNP options with standard 3-wire pigtail

Available as QF-35N1 (NPN, Normally Open, voltage output type) or QF-35P1 (PNP, Normally Open) on a 2 m PVC-insulated 3-core cable (brown = +12-24VDC, blue = 0V, black = output), matching common PLC input wiring without extra converters.

Applications

Short-range part detection near machine-tool coolant sprayIP66 rating and stainless housing let the sensor be mounted close to cutting-fluid splash zones on CNC or machining stations where a standard IP65 sensor risks water ingress.
Wash-down points on food or packaging equipment (general industrial duty)IP66 tolerates hose-down and splash cleaning; this is a general industrial rating, not a food-hygienic (e.g. IP69K/hygienic-design) certification.
Small-fixture and feed-mechanism presence sensingCompact M8 single-hole mounting suits jigs, small feeders, and indexing tables where panel space is limited.
High-cycle small-parts counting on compact conveyors3 ms response supports faster-moving small parts than the 5 ms micro H-series, useful where cycle time is tight.
Transparent or clear-material object detectionPer product imagery, the diffuse-reflective sensing mode can detect transparent objects such as clear film or glass parts, useful where opaque-only sensors fail.
Detection under variable factory or daylight illumination940 nm infrared emission with rated tolerance to incandescent light (3,000 lx) and sunlight (10,000 lx) suits stations near windows or bright work lights.
Installation on vibration- or shock-prone pointsRated to withstand 10-55 Hz vibration (1.5 mm amplitude, X/Y/Z axes, 2 h each) and 500 m/s² shock (X/Y/Z axes, 3 times each), suitable for mounting on moving arms or lightly vibrating machine frames.
PLC-direct integration without interface convertersNPN or PNP voltage-output selection lets the sensor wire directly into common PLC sinking or sourcing input cards.

Models & Ordering Information

QF-35 Series — M8×1.0 stainless-steel diffuse-reflective photoelectric sensor, fixed 35 mm sensing distance (2 models)

QF-35N1QF-35P1
QF-35N1 = NPN, Normally Open, voltage output type; QF-35P1 = PNP, Normally Open. Both share identical sensing distance, protection rating, and housing.

How to Select

  1. Select by output type: choose QF-35N1 (NPN, Normally Open) for sinking PLC/controller inputs, or QF-35P1 (PNP, Normally Open) for sourcing inputs.
  2. Both models are Normally Open only in this series — no Normally Closed (N2/P2) variant is currently documented.
  3. Verify the 35 mm rated sensing distance against your actual target: it is calibrated on a 30×30 mm white paper target with deviation within 20% of rated distance; darker, smaller, or less reflective targets will trigger at a shorter working distance.
  4. Check mounting clearance: M8×1.0 threaded barrel, overall length 45 mm, thread length 33 mm, sensing-face diameter 13-15 mm, cable outer diameter 3.1 mm.
  5. Confirm ambient conditions: IP66 suits splash, coolant mist, and wash-down exposure; operating temperature −25°C to +55°C (storage −30°C to +70°C), operating humidity 35-85% RH (storage 35-95% RH), no icing or condensation.
  6. Check supply and load compatibility: DC12-24V ±10% supply, current consumption under 30 mA; output load rated for DC24V or below, 80 mA or below, residual voltage under 1V.
  7. If you need Normally Closed output, a longer sensing range, or a different thread size, this QF-35 series only covers a fixed 35 mm range with M8 stainless housing — see our H08 series (longer-range M8, up to 150/200 mm) or H03-H06 micro sensors (smaller thread) as separate product lines.

When NOT to specify the QF-35 — and what to use instead

Dark, small, or low-reflectivity targets near the rated 35mm distance

Why not: The 35mm rated sensing distance is calibrated against a 30x30mm white paper target with deviation within 20%; darker or less reflective targets will trigger at a shorter working distance.

Use instead: a through-beam sensor for color-independent detection

Control logic requires a Normally Closed output

Why not: The documented lineup (QF-35N1/QF-35P1) is Normally Open only; no N.C. variant is confirmed for this series.

Use instead: the H08/R12 series or the JNS18/JNK18 M18 diffuse series, which offer N.C. output variants

Working distance needed beyond the fixed 35mm

Why not: QF-35 has a single fixed 35mm rated sensing distance, with no longer-range variant in this series.

Use instead: the H08 series (up to 150/200mm) or the M18 diffuse series (up to 3 m)

Personnel guarding or a safety interlock

Why not: No safety rating is documented; this is a general presence/part sensor.

Use instead: a safety-rated light curtain or safety interlock
