How to Select
- Choose M8 for the smallest mounting footprint; sensing distance is 1mm (flush) or 2mm (non-flush).
- Choose M12 for 2mm (flush) or 4mm (non-flush) sensing distance.

When NOT to specify the Economy — and what to use instead
Detecting plastic, wood, liquid, or other non-metallic parts
Why not: This is an inductive sensor family built to detect metal targets without contact; the spec sheet gives no rating for non-metallic targets.
Use instead: A capacitive proximity sensor series, which can detect non-metallic and liquid targets.
Sensing an aluminum, brass, or copper target at the full rated distance (e.g. 10mm on M30 flush)
Why not: The published sensing-distance values (M8 1/2mm ... M30 10/15mm) are a single rated figure with no non-ferrous correction factor listed.
Use instead: Apply a reduction factor for non-ferrous targets (confirm with factory) or size up to the next-largest thread (e.g. M18/M30) for margin.
High-speed counting beyond 1KHz (M8/M12/M18) or 500Hz (M30 flush)
