How to Select

When NOT to specify the DDK-F — and what to use instead

The application needs millimeter or sub-centimeter accuracy within a 100 m range.

Why not: DDK-F's stated accuracy is ±3 cm at 100 m in clear weather, widening to ±10 cm in fog and snow — a centimeter-class figure, not millimeter-class.

Use instead: a phase-shift laser distance sensor such as DDA-Y/DDB-Y for millimeter-class accuracy within their own rated range

Why not: both the standard version (1-150 m @ 50 Hz) and high-rate version (1-200 m @ 100 Hz) rate their minimum measuring distance at 1 m; no sub-1 m performance is published.

Use instead: a laser displacement sensor built for short-range, near-field measurement

The task is micron-level thickness or displacement measurement rather than long-range ranging.

Why not: DDK-F publishes only centimeter-class ranging accuracy (±3 cm/±10 cm) with no repeatability or resolution figure suited to fine dimensional work.

Use instead: a laser displacement (triangulation) sensor rated in micron repeatability

The project needs documented laser-safety evidence for a regulatory or personnel-safety review, not just a nameplate class.
