Overview
The JNS series is a miniature laser diffuse reflective photoelectric sensor built around a 650nm red laser light source, housed in a 90° right-angle body. It detects the presence of an object by emitting a laser beam and sensing the light reflected directly off the target, with no reflector or opposing receiver unit required. It suits machine builders and system integrators who need object presence detection inside compact fixtures, narrow slots, or panels where a straight-body sensor's cable exit or body length would not clear surrounding structure.
It is available in two threaded body sizes: M4, with a 10-50mm detection range, and M6, with a 15-100mm detection range. Each size is offered in NPN or PNP output, with normally-open (NO) or normally-closed (NC) switching logic, for four output combinations per size, and operates on a 10-30VDC supply with an IP65 protection rating.

How to Select
- Choose M4 (10-50mm detection range) when the mounting hole is M4 threaded and the required detection distance is within 50mm.
- Choose M6 (15-100mm detection range) when the mounting hole is M6 threaded and the required detection distance is within 100mm.
- For a sinking (NPN) PLC input card, select a model with "N" in the part number, e.g. JNS0440N1-90°.
- For a sourcing (PNP) PLC input card, select a model with "P" in the part number, e.g. JNS0440P1-90°.
- For an output that turns on when an object is detected, select suffix "1" (normally open, NO); for an output that turns off when an object is detected, select suffix "2" (normally closed, NC).
- All models share the same 90° right-angle body, so confirm before ordering that this cable/connector exit direction suits your installation space.
- Confirm the field supply falls within 10-30VDC; this is the same specification across both M4 and M6 sizes.

When NOT to specify the JNS — and what to use instead
The target is dark or matte near the top of the rated range (close to 50mm on M4 or 100mm on M6)
Why not: As a diffuse reflective sensor it senses light reflected off the target's own surface, so the quoted ranges depend on the object's color and reflectivity rather than being fixed for every surface.
Use instead: a laser through-beam pair for detection that doesn't depend on target reflectivity
A detection distance beyond 100mm is required
Why not: The longest rated range in this right-angle diffuse family is the M6 at 15-100mm; there is no longer-range variant in this series.
Use instead: a standard straight-body M12/M18 laser diffuse sensor, or a through-beam pair for longer range
A straight in-line sensor body is preferred and there's no clearance restriction behind the mounting face
Why not: This model's distinguishing feature is its 90-degree bent body built to reduce mounting depth; that added geometry brings no benefit if a straight body already fits.
Use instead: a straight-body M4/M6 laser diffuse sensor
Machine guarding or personnel-safety interlocking
Why not: Only IP65 sealing and a 10-30VDC supply rating are documented for this switch; no safety-function certification is stated.
