Product composition
The safety light curtain primarily consists of two components: the emitter and the receiver. The emitter releases infrared rays, which are captured by the receiver, forming a protective light curtain. When an object breaches the light curtain, the receiver instantly reacts via the internal control circuit, causing the machinery (like a punch) to halt or trigger an alarm, thereby safeguarding the operator and ensuring the equipment operates safely and normally.
Multiple infrared emitting tubes are installed at equal intervals on one side of the light curtain, with a corresponding number of infrared receiving tubes arranged similarly on the opposite side. Each emitting tube aligns with a receiving tube on the same straight line. In the absence of obstacles between an emitting tube and its corresponding receiving tube, the modulated light signal from the emitter reaches the receiver seamlessly. Upon receiving this modulated signal, the internal circuit outputs a low level. However, if an obstruction is present, the modulated signal from the emitter fails to reach the receiver. In this case, the receiver cannot obtain the modulated signal, causing the internal circuit to output a high level. When no objects interrupt the light curtain, the modulated signals from all emitting tubes reach their corresponding receivers, prompting all internal circuits to output low levels. This way, the presence or absence of an object can be detected by analyzing the status of the internal circuits.
Safety Light Curtain Selection Guide
Step 1: Establish the optical axis spacing (resolution) of the safety light curtain.
1. Consider the specific environment and the operator's tasks. For machinery like a paper cutter, where the operator frequently enters the hazardous zone and is close to it, accidents are more likely. Hence, the optical axis spacing should be relatively small. Light curtains with a smaller spacing (e.g., 10mm) are recommended to protect fingers.
2. Similarly, if the frequency of entering the danger zone is lower or the distance is greater, you can opt for protection that covers the palm (20-30mm spacing).
3. For areas needing arm protection, select a light curtain with a slightly larger spacing (40mm).
4. The maximum spacing of the light curtain is for full-body protection. Choose a light curtain with the largest spacing (80mm or 200mm).
Step 2: Determine the protection height of the light curtain.
This should be based on the specific machinery and equipment, with conclusions drawn from actual measurements. Note the distinction between the height of the safety light curtain and its protection height. [Height of the safety light curtain: the total height of the light curtain's structure; Protection height: the effective range when operational, i.e., effective protection height = optical axis spacing * (total number of optical axes - 1)
Step 3: Select the light curtain’s anti-reflection distance.
The through-beam distance, the gap between the transmitter and the receiver, should be determined according to the actual conditions of the machinery and equipment to choose a suitable light curtain. After establishing the through-beam distance, also consider the cable length required.
Step 4: Determine the output type of the light curtain signal.
This must align with the signal output method of the safety light curtain. Some light curtains might not be compatible with the signal outputs of certain machinery, necessitating the use of a controller.
Step 5: Bracket selection.
Choose between an L-shaped bracket or a base rotating bracket according to your specific needs.
